People like to use VIM because of the need to never touch the mouse. Nowadays, VSCode can simulate VIM or Emacs right inside VSCode.

Some editors overload you with features. VSCode doesn't have 200 useless feature you will never use.

Being supported by Microsoft might seem like a bad thing, but it's really a good thing. Because VSCode is used to make VSCode, it's guaranteed that improvement will always be happening.
